TORPEDOES SOCCER CLUB RETURN TO PLAY POLICY

As the season approaches and practices resume, just a reminder that our Covid-19 protocols are still in place.  The club abides by all NJDOH and CDC guidelines.

If your child has any symptom as described by the CDC to include, but not limited to the list below list, they are not to attend practices/games:

  • Fever

  • Cough or sore throat

  • Shortness of breath

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Chills

  • Head or muscle aches

  • Nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting


If your child has traveled to or from a location listed on the NJDOH travel advisory list within the last 14 days, they are not to attend practices/games and are advised to self-quarantine as per the NJ Government Website:

If your child has had a Covid-19 positive exposure as designated by your health care provider and/or NJDOH, please follow appropriate guidelines.  The club is unable to determine exposure risk so please consult your medical provider and/or NJDOH to determine if your child has been exposed.

We are currently in Phase 3 of return to protocol, please see below for current state mandated protocols.

Phase 3 – Duration TBD

  • Introduction of controlled scrimmages/practice games

  • Minimal physical contact

  • Fields now open to all participants

  • No sharing water bottles / pennies

  • Practice session should not exceed 1 hour 15 mins and allow a 15 min period for the departure and arrival of the next players

  • Social distancing should be implemented before, during (if a player is not involved in the practice session) and after the practice session

  • Opening of League games that do NOT require overnight stay

  • League play environment – all spectators are required to adhere to social distancing

  • League play environment – All players – no handshake / fist bump before, during or after the game with either opposing or own team members

  • All league rules for ‘return to play’ to be followed

Phase 4 - Duration TBD

  • Full return to play

  • No restrictions on practice sessions

  • No sharing of water bottles

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Coach

  • Abide by all ‘return to play’ protocols

  • If any player is not feeling well, send them home

  • Ensure all players are equipped with their own water bottles, shin guards etc.

  • All cones / disks must be positioned by the coach, no players are to touch, move or collect cones / disks or other practice equipment

  • All practice session must provide adequate social distancing

  • No pinnies to be used in Phase 1

  • Respect players, parents that are uncomfortable with returning to play

 

The Parent

  • If you are not comfortable with returning to play DON’T

  • Check your child’s temperature before coming to the practice session

  • Wash and sanitize all practice equipment after every practice session (cleats, shin guards, ball etc.)

  • Ensure all practice clothing is washed after every practice session

  • Notify your club immediately if your child becomes ill for any reason

  • Provide your child with individual hand sanitizer

  • Ensure your child understands and adheres to all social distancing protocols

  • Provide your child with plenty of water

 

The Player

  • If you are uncomfortable returning to play DON’T

  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after practice sessions

  • Ensure all equipment (cleats, shin guards, etc.) is washed and sanitized before arriving at the fields

  • Ensure all equipment (cleats, shin guards, etc.) is washed and sanitized after every practice session

  • Do not share water bottles, food or equipment

  • Practice and respect all social distancing protocols

  • Ensure all personal equipment (bags, drinks bottles, etc.) when at the fields is placed no less than 6 feet apart

  • No fist bumps, high fives, or handshakes at any time (before, during or after) the practice session
