Please observe the following procedures in case of inclement weather on a practice or game day:
A decision regarding the cancellation of games or practices will often be made after 3:00 pm on weekdays and after 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, even if weather conditions are terrible or forecasted to become terrible.
Players, parents, coaches, and team managers are not to call the Recreation Office regarding cancellations, regardless of your association with the Recreation Director.
Please wait until your coach or team manager contacts you. If you do not hear from your coach or team manager, assume the games are on and report at your scheduled time.
Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these procedures.
There are lightning detection systems in Wyckoff at 3 fields. Pulis Field, Memorial Field and Community Park. The systems detect lightning strikes eight (8) miles away or less. The system will sound an alarm so coaches, players and spectators can clear the field and move to safety.
There will be a thirty (30) minute waiting period from the last strike of lightning before anyone can resume play. If the system sounds the alarm, and the strike was a single isolated strike, then 30 minutes later, the all clear alarm will go off. All subsequent strikes are also registered by the system and will reset the clock to 30 minutes.
To help parents and coaches know how much time they have left to wait, the following links can be used determine how much time is left before the all clear.
