Memorial Day Weekend was a big one for Torpedoes! At the ISE STA Memorial Day Weekend Tournament, multiple Torpedoes teams made it to the semifinals and finals.
The U14 Girls' White Team made the finals of the ISE STA Memorial Day Tournament. They left it all on the pitch through 4 competitive matches, and showed their love of the beautiful game in each one. While it was heartbreaking for them to lose in PKs during the finals, their performance in this tournament was outstanding.
Our U12 (2009) Girls' Torpedoes Strikers also made it to the finals and lost in PK's to Cedar Stars. In the preliminaries, they had beaten NESA 2009 Girls' EDP 4-1 and Scotch Plains Fanwood 5-1.
The 2008 Boys' White Team won their age group, and put together 4 clean sheets (7-0, 3-0,
and 3-0) in the process. Their final was a 2-0 win over the Silver Lake Falcons. It was a sweep of the 2012 U-9 brackets at the ISE STA Tournament in Roxbury. The Boys' 2012 Red Team won all 4 of their games- 9-0, 10-2, 3-1, and 7-2- with 29 goals for and only 5 against! Not to be outdone, the Girls' 2012 Red Team also took home the championship, winning their preliminary games 9-1 and 9-1, and then dominating Westfield 8-2 in the final, for a total of 26 goals for, 4 against, 1 Championship!
Over in Montville, at the Montville Summer Blastoff Tournament, the 2012 (U9) Girls- Team Rapinoe won their first 2 games, before losing to a U11 team. Excellent work by all the girls. Coach Teddy Niziolek's 2011 U10 Girls' White Team went 3-0, including 2 shutouts. It was a great way to finish the 2021 Spring Season on a high note! Coach Teddy's U11 (2010) Boys' Black team won the U-11 Division, with a decisive 3 to 1 victory over the Jersey Crew SC Barracudas in the final. Finally, we are also very proud of our U8 girls, who were playing in their first tournament, going against U9 and U10 teams. They had competitive matches in every game!
